Personal Observations: Which Defensive Newcomers Caught My Eye During G-Day
Spring Football is coming to a close and Summer is right around the corner. Before we turn the page to summer workouts and recruiting, let’s look at some of the new bulldogs that caught my eye last weekend at G-Day on the defensive side of the ball.
Three guys really stood out to me on Saturday. Freshman DB AJ Harris was the first name. Harris came in to UGA as one of the top DBs in the nation and looking to make a push for playing time early in his career. He recorded six tackles and a pass breakup and a few really nice plays on the ball. CJ Allen opened some eyes. He had five total tackles including a play where he ran from left to right on a screen pass and took down the ball carrier. Similar to the play Nakobe Dean made against Michigan in 2021. Finally Raylen Wilson. Everyone knew what type of athlete Wilson was coming in. We didn’t know he would put that performance on. He had four tackles and two sacks. He also returned an interception for a touchdown after a bobble by Anthony Evans.
Georgia brought in guys like these linebackers to do exactly what they did on Saturday. It’s going to be a fun time watching these players develop.
