Mike Bobo Has Taken Over as the Offensive Coordinator for Georgia, What Does That Mean for Georgia Recruitng?

The loss of Todd Monken stung many Georgia fans, that is for sure. He just helped you win two straight National Championships and made Georgia the talk of the college football world for many years to come. Monken accepted the job to go back to the NFL and take the offensive coordinator. It is now officially the Mike Bobo show, and some people are happy with that and some are not.

One of the top things that Mike Bobo will bring back to Athens is the running back recruiting. This is not taking away anything at all from Dell McGee who has done a very good job at landing recruits over the past few years. However, Mike Bobo recruited the running back position very well during his first stint as the UGA OC from 2007-2014. Bobo was responsible for recruiting and landing Sony Michel and Nick Chubb. Two runningbacks who changed the program for the Bulldogs.

Not only is Bobo going to help recruit the runningback position better, but he also recruits the quarterback position pretty darn well. He got Matthew Stafford to commit to the Bulldogs which then propelled Georgia to end up with the number three class in 2006.

Overall, Bobo is a very solid recruiter and unlike Todd Monken he is more equipped and willing to get out on the road and recruit year-round while dealing with the brutal schedule of being a college football coach in this day and age. We won’t see the effects right away but you can expect multiple offensive recruits to start mentioning Mike Bobo’s name when talking about their recruitment and the Bulldogs.
