George Pickens turns some heads with combine performance.

When George Pickens declared for the NFL Draft back in January it came as a surprise for some people. Pickens only played 4 games his junior season due to a torn ACL he suffered in March of 2021. Even though Pickens had limited action this season he made the most out of it. He had 5 catches for 107 yards (21.4 YPC).

During his media day session at the NFL Combine, he said that he wants to show everyone why he is a first-round pick. After his workout yesterday I would say he accomplished that goal. He turned in a 4.47 forty-yard dash time. Pickens vertical jump was listed as 33” which wasn’t the best of the day, but it also wasn’t the worst. Scouts know that Pickens can jump out of this world when he wants to, and now that they know he has the speed as well, Pickens could sneak his way into the first round.

George Pickens gave the reporters a handful of teams he met with throughout the week. The list consists of the Jaguars, Packers, Steelers, Chiefs, Jets, and 49ers. Pickens will have time to meet with teams again during UGA’s Pro Day on March 16th. The final thing that helped George this week was his interviews with the media. He was “very confident” in his answers and knew what to say during the right time.
