Some Former Dawgs Showing Out in the Senior Bowl

This week the Senior Bowl practices have officialy kicked off. The game will be played this Saturday at 2:30 on NFL Network

Georgia has four total players that will compete this weekend, Kenny McIntosh, Chris Smith, Warren McClendon, and Jack Podlesney. All of those guys have a golden opportunity this week to improve their draft stock with numerous scouts in attendance.

On Tuesday, Kenny McIntosh measured in at 5’11, 210 pounds, with 9” hands. Yesterday, McIntosh left the practice early due to a cramp, but that was after he put on an absolute show in front of a ton of scouts. He “broke a few explosive runs that made some scouts go wow.” We know Kenny is capable of those breakaway runs and we know about his speed. However, the two things that have shown up the most in scouting notes this week are his pass protection and pass-catching abilities.

Here is the first example of him in the pass protection drill. That is one thing that scouts look for in running backs more often now. It has become such a pass-heavy league you need a running back that is willing to make a chip block or just stand in the pocket and take hits for the quarterback. Kenny checks both of those boxes.

Now here’s the pass-catching in action. You Georgia fans know what Kenny can do coming out of the backfield. Last season he had 43 receptions for 504 yards and two touchdowns. That is not normal stats for a running back. Kenny is going to really benefit from this week if he keeps this performance up.

Chris Smith has also been turning some heads this week. He has been very good in 1-on-1 drills all week. He has also already knocked someone’s helmet off after laying a hit on a receiver during the skeleton passing drills.

This is a fantastic rep against Xavier Hutchinson from Iowa State who had 1,171 yards and 6 touchdowns last season.

Offensive Lineman Warren McClendon has been doing his usual thing. Bodying D-linemen into the ground. Scouts said that he has been really impressive in the 1-on-1 drills. He also has been pretty solid in the run-blocking drills.
