Daniel Jeremiah's New-Top 50 Draft List Includes Number of Dawgs

A total of five Bulldogs in the top 50 prospects list for Daniel Jeremiah

The NFL Scouting Combine is upon us. Recently NFL Draft Analyst Daniel Jeremiah released his top 50 prospects list.

He has five total Bulldogs in his top 50. Georgia has 11 total prospects in the NFL Combine this year, so almost half of those players are ranked inside his top 50.

Jalen Carter is ranked as the #1 prospect according to Jeremiah in the draft. He says that Carter is a highly disruptive player, and teams like the versatility of Carter being able to lineup at any position on the defensive line. He also added that Carter is the biggest difference-maker in the draft and needs to be accounted for on every snap.

Broderick Jones was listed at #17. Jeremiah sees him as a “thick, muscular left tackle with ideal length and power.” He loves the quickness of that first step in pass protection and his ability to get down the field quickly in running plays. One of the most common things said about Jones is that his technique might not be as sharp as it can be just yet, but his pure athleticism makes up for that. Once he gets his technique down, he is going to be a very good tackle in the NFL.

Nolan Smith is just three spots below his former Georgia teammate at #20. Daniel Jeremiah says that he is “ an undersized edge rusher with elite change of direction and burst.” One thing that I have seen from Nolan that he can improve on is his ability to get off blocks in the run game. In the pass rush, it comes naturally to him, but when a team hands the ball off, he seems to get stuck sometimes.

Darnell Washington is listed at #24 on the list. Jeremiah says “Washington is a physical specimen with outstanding play strength and toughness. He can power through press coverage with upper body strength.” Washington never got the targets he should have at Georgia but he made the most of them. The area where Darnell made the most impact was in the run game. He has the speed at 6’8 270 to get outside the numbers on screenplays to block downfield, which even after watching him for three years still amazes me every time I see it.

Kelee Ringo was the last player to make the list and just squeaked in at #45. Jeremiah basically said what everyone already knows about Ringo, “tall, thick, corner with outstanding straight-line speed, but he has issues with finding the football.” We saw it in the LSU and Ohio State game last year. When he has to turn his hips and adjust to a ball or a broken play that’s where things get sketchy for Kelee Ringo. The best part for Ringo is, that’s able to be fixed once he gets into the NFL.
